Strange Fish documents plastic in our canal waterways. The strip of plastic in the short film mimics the movement of a fish that struggles to break free of its entanglement without success. One of the key challenges facing Ireland today relates to plastic. Its toxic pollutants damage the environment and causes land, water and air pollution. It takes hundreds or even thousands of years for plastic to break down, so the damage to the environment is long-lasting. It clogs whole ecosystems, choking wildlife, carpeting the sea bed, releasing toxins as it degrades, poisoning the food chain and ultimately poisoning us.
